Rep. Jamie Raskin, who has represented Maryland’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, used his social media platform on May 15, 2026, to comment on legislative priorities and recognize local achievements.

In a post dated May 15, 2026, Raskin criticized House Republicans’ recent actions: “House Republicans have abandoned all pretense of even trying to lower costs for the American people. With their poll numbers—and President Trump’s—sinking like a stone, they’re working to pass culture-war resolutions and plutocratic legislation to penalize the poor instead of https://t.co/fZZqCa9X1g”.

Later that day, he highlighted Judge Chung Pak during AAPI Heritage Month: “During AAPI Heritage Month, this week’s MD-08 Local Hero is Judge Chung Pak who leads Maryland’s Office of Administrative Hearings. An accomplished legal mind, active community presence and effective administrator, Judge Pak makes sure our people get a fair and impartial” (May 15, 2026).

In another message posted on May 15, Raskin acknowledged students from his district receiving appointments to U.S. Service Academies: “It was an honor to welcome to Capitol Hill 8th District students who were nominated and received appointment offers to U.S. Service Academies. Jamie Raskin succeeded Chris Van Hollen in representing Maryland’s 8th district beginning in 2017. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Maryland Senate from 2007 until 2016. Born in Washington D.C., Raskin graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 1983 and earned his JD from Harvard Law School in 1987. He currently resides in Takoma Park.
