Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, recently posted several updates on his social media account covering topics from congressional legislation to local community recognition.

On December 18, 2025, Raskin commented on the naming of a performing arts center and referenced the HHS Secretary in a post: “How about we just stick with the existing legal name for the performing arts center but call the HHS Secretary Robert F. Trump-Kennedy?”

Later that same day, he addressed ongoing legislative efforts in Congress regarding healthcare affordability. In his tweet dated December 18, 2025, Raskin wrote: “We now have a bipartisan majority of members of Congress demanding a vote to extend ACA tax credits and keep health care affordable for all Americans.

Speaker Johnson, bring this legislation to the House Floor immediately or step out of the way.”

Recognizing local leadership in his district, Raskin highlighted an individual making contributions to homeless services. On December 20, 2025, he stated: “This week’s MD-08 Local Hero is Liz Krueger, Director of Homeless Services for the great local group Interfaith Works. Thank you, Liz, for your years of extraordinary service to our community and working to make sure all of our people have a place to call home.”

Jamie Raskin has represented Maryland’s 8th District in Congress since succeeding Chris Van Hollen in 2017. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park at age 60, Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
