Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, addressed a range of topics in recent social media posts, including political commentary, remembrance of a local tragedy, and new legislative efforts.

On March 26, 2026, Raskin commented on White House communications staff and the former president’s administration. He posted: “Gee, Karoline Leavitt, who works in the Trump White House, suddenly identified a ‘liar and a fraud’ but it was Special Counsel Jack Smith who has never been convicted of 34 counts of criminal fraud and never had the Attorney General describe his words as ‘BS’! Later that day, Raskin marked the anniversary of an infrastructure disaster in Baltimore. In his post from March 26, he wrote: “Two years ago today, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the great city of Baltimore collapsed. We hold dear the memories of the six people who died in this disaster and continue rallying as a state to repair this essential artery for Maryland and the country.”

Also on March 26, Raskin announced bipartisan legislative action focused on mental health support: “I’m introducing the STOP Suicide Act with @RepDonBacon to expand stabilization services for people with thoughts of suicide. We’re investing in evidence-based approaches to intervene when people need it most.”

Jamie Raskin was born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and resides in Takoma Park at age 60. Before serving in Congress—where he succeeded Chris Van Hollen—he served from 2007 to 2016 in the Maryland Senate. He holds both undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University.
