U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin, who serves Maryland’s 8th district in Congress, used his social media platform on March 18, 2026, to criticize President Trump’s economic and foreign policies. In a series of posts, Raskin expressed concern over the financial and social impact of recent government actions.
In his first post at 13:53 UTC, Raskin wrote: “President Trump’s reckless and unconstitutional tariffs are making life more expensive. Now, we’re spending more than $1 billion each day on the war in Iran and watching unemployment rise. Americans are suffering and the president keeps making it worse.”
Later that day at 14:21 UTC, he added: “Trump’s illegal war with Iran is costing taxpayers $1 billion per day. What do we say to Americans who can’t afford health care, rent or groceries? It’s more important that the president wage undeclared wars of choice and aggression?”
That evening at 23:04 UTC, Raskin commented on a different topic related to the events of January 6, 2021: “Today, I journeyed to an obscure part of the Capitol basement to see the long-awaited plaque honoring the police officers who defended Congress and America against Trump’s insurrectionary mob on January 6, 2021.
To his credit, Sen. Tillis joined Democrats in demanding it be put https://t.co/AdpOg8oGbE“
