Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, has posted several statements on his social media account addressing former President Donald Trump and other political topics.
On August 12, 2025, Raskin wrote: “Trump knows D.C. crime well because he incited a violent mass insurrection in D.C. with extremist street gangs on January 6, 2021. But he’s given all those people pardons and released them from jail while firing the people who prosecuted them. What more can he do?”
Later that day, Raskin posted another message stating: “Repost if you think Hegseth shouldn’t be allowed to vote.” This post was published on August 12, 2025.
On August 13, 2025, Raskin addressed Trump’s relationship with veterans and unionized workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): “Trump’s disrespect for veterans and their families, which began long ago with his trash-talking John McCain, continues with this rampage of union-busting and deception. Congress must stop Trump’s attack on VA workers, many of them vets and all of them serving veterans.”
Jamie Raskin has served in Congress since replacing Chris Van Hollen in 2017 and previously held office in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park, Raskin holds both undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University.
