Rep. Jamie Raskin, who represents Maryland’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on February 18, 2026, to issue a series of critical statements addressing political and governmental issues.

In a post made at 15:53 UTC, Raskin wrote, “If they force us to choose between calling for the resignation of imbecilic bigots or normalizing hateful religious incitement, that’s not a tough one. This fanatic should spare his constituents any further embarrassment and resign.”

Later that day at 16:43 UTC, he commented on conditions within an immigration detention facility in Baltimore: “In ICE’s holding facility in Baltimore, the Trump Administration is packing dozens and dozens of people shoulder-to-shoulder like sardines, 24-7 with no breaks, no showers and one group toilet. No one wants their family stuffed into a putrid locker room. With tens of billions of”

At 18:25 UTC the same day, Raskin addressed actions by former President Donald Trump and referenced testimony before the House Judiciary Committee: “Trump is shredding our Constitution every day. Instead of answering for all the damage inflicted on our people and the rule of law, @AGPamBondi spent her time before @HouseJudiciary name-calling, filibustering and deflecting from her indefensible Epstein coverup.”

Jamie Raskin has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Chris Van Hollen. He previously held positions in both the Maryland Senate (2007–2016) and Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park, Raskin graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 1983 and earned his JD from Harvard Law School in 1987.
