Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, has recently posted several statements on his Twitter account addressing actions by federal agencies and the Trump Administration.

On May 27, 2026, Raskin criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for its conduct in New Jersey: “Across America, ICE’s reign of lawlessness continues. Yesterday ICE agents in New Jersey used pepper spray against American citizens, including my friend @SenatorAndyKim, outside an ICE detention facility. Americans have the right to peacefully assemble, and Members of Congress”.

Later that day, he commented on the closure of childcare centers by the Trump Administration: “The Trump Administration is abruptly closing two USDA childcare centers for federal workers, giving families less than three months to make new arrangements for their kids. If this administration is so “pro-family,” then USDA should immediately reverse this action.”

On May 28, 2026, Raskin referenced musician Bruce Springsteen’s remarks at Nationals Park regarding federal spending: “Springsteen spoke for America last night from Nats Park when he said Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund is ‘an American outrage.’ The people’s representatives in Congress cannot allow hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to be showered on MAGA partisans and white nationalist”.

Jamie Raskin was born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently resides in Takoma Park. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 1983 and earned a JD from Harvard Law School in 1987. Before serving in Congress beginning in 2017—replacing Chris Van Hollen—he served as a member of the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016.
