Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on March 20, 2026, criticizing House Republicans and highlighting local community efforts.

On March 20, 2026, Raskin wrote, “House Republicans are abdicating the constitutional powers of Congress for the greater glory of Donald Trump.

But only Congress can declare war, appropriate spending and create tariffs, not the president. To restore the rule of law and end MAGA chaos, we must reclaim these https://t.co/Jmx7l1YlzW“.

Later that day, he added another statement on the same topic: “Americans are footing the bill for Trump’s war with Iran to the tune of tens of billions of taxpayer dollars already, yet Republicans in the House are doing nothing to lower prices or defend the war powers of Congress.

Where is constitutional lawyer @SpeakerJohnson?”.

In a separate post focusing on local community recognition, Raskin stated on March 20, 2026: “This week’s Local Hero is Farzaneh Nabavian, Family Engagement Specialist at Montgomery Blair HS and Eastern MS. Farzaneh is universally loved for her ‘Kindness Corner’ where students in need can access food, toiletries or a sympathetic ear. We admire her for her awesome”.

Jamie Raskin has served in Congress since replacing Chris Van Hollen in 2017. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of both the Maryland House of Representatives and Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park at age 60, Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
