Rep. Jamie Raskin, a congressional representative from Maryland’s 8th district, has recently shared his critical views through a series of tweets. A well-known figure in American politics since his entry into Congress in 2017, Raskin has consistently voiced concerns on various national issues via social media platforms including Twitter.
On April 30, 2025, Raskin expressed strong criticism of former President Donald Trump’s administration, accusing it of mismanagement and exploitation. “Trump has spent 100 days on get-rich-quick crypto schemes, plunder of the people’s data, pillage of the government, and trade war against the world (except for Russia),” he tweeted. He alleged that the administration has been involved in slashing Medicaid, Social Security, and Head Start programs, calling these actions a “war on the people.”
In another tweet shared on the same day at 2:54 PM, Rep. Raskin emphasized the importance of governmental reforms. He stated, “We can’t rest until government is restored as an instrument for the people, not our homegrown theocrats, kleptocrats and oligarchs.” His message was a call for the restoration of governmental functions for the benefit of the populace, rather than powerful elites.
Later that day, at 5:47 PM, Raskin challenged his congressional peers to take a stand. He questioned, “Every member of Congress must make a choice. Do you stand with a lawless authoritarian who is crashing our economy and giving away the store to billionaires at the expense of American families, or do you stand with the people he’s hurting every day?” Raskin affirmed his position, suggesting his allegiance is with the people affected by these policies.
Jamie Raskin, serving since 2017, was born in Washington, D.C., attended Harvard University, and has been a prominent advocate for democratic governance and institutional integrity throughout his political career.
