Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, has recently commented on former President Donald Trump and special prosecutor Jack Smith in a series of posts on his social media account.

On January 21, 2026, Raskin shared an editorial from The New York Times regarding Trump’s conduct during his presidency: “One year ago Donald Trump swore an oath to support the Constitution, but he’s used the presidency to enrich himself and his family, the @nytimes editorial board writes. Check out how Trump pocketed $1.4 billion in a single year.”

The following day, January 22, Raskin addressed Trump’s reaction to special prosecutor Jack Smith: “Donald Trump is furious not because Jack Smith did anything wrong as special prosecutor, but because he did everything right.” In another post later that day, Raskin continued: “Jack Smith pursued the facts, followed the law and stuck to every rule of ethical and professional conduct. He had the audacity to do his job. Donald Trump simply can’t take that.”

Jamie Raskin succeeded Chris Van Hollen in Congress in 2017 after serving in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park, Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
