Representative Jamie Raskin, who has served Maryland’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media addressing local community events and national political issues.
On September 7, 2025, Raskin shared his participation in a local event, writing: “Honored to join the Jewish Social Service Agency’s Family Wellness Day in Gaithersburg’s beautiful Bohrer Park to celebrate the critical work of all our nonprofit social service agencies.”
Later that day, he criticized President Biden’s economic policies in a strongly worded post: “YOU DID IT, MR. PRESIDENT! YOU’RE RUINING THE ECONOMY THAT WAS LAST YEAR “THE ENVY OF THE WORLD” (THE ECONOMIST). YOUR STUPID POLICIES ARE SLOWING JOB GROWTH, LOWERING WAGES AND HURTING OUR SMALL BUSINESSES WHILE THE SUPER-RICH AVOID TAXES. WE KNOW YOU LOVE PUTIN BUT PLEASE STOP” The tweet referenced an assessment by The Economist about last year’s economic performance.
On September 8, 2025, Raskin commented on efforts by House Democrats to publicize information related to Jeffrey Epstein. He stated: “House Democrats fought to bring this sickening letter into the light while Trump and MAGA mouthpieces assured us it did not exist. Trump even sued the Wall Street Journal for reporting on it! We can’t trust a word MAGA says. Release the full Epstein file NOW!”
Jamie Raskin began representing Maryland’s 8th District in Congress after replacing Chris Van Hollen in 2017 and previously served on the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park, Raskin is a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
