Rep. Jamie Raskin, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets between February 1 and February 3, 2026, addressing topics ranging from Black History Month to congressional oversight of federal agencies.

On February 1, Raskin marked the beginning of Black History Month with a post stating, “Happy Black History Month! We honor the remarkable contributions Black Americans have made to our nation and our communities. As President Trump and his toadies try to censor the history of Black Americans, we celebrate loudly and proudly so we never forget that Black history”.

The following day, on February 2, he commented on an incident involving graffiti at the Kennedy Center. Raskin wrote, “When his black-tie goons posted graffiti defacing the building’s name to read “Trump-Kennedy Center,” you could read the writing on the wall. No real artist would set foot inside without a political exorcism. Thank you Philip Glass, Renée Fleming, Béla Fleck, Stephen Schwartz,”.

On February 3, Raskin announced legal developments in congressional oversight efforts: “Massive win for the people: a federal judge granted a restraining order in our Members’ lawsuit against ICE’s unlawful effort to obstruct congressional oversight. This is a big victory for accountability and we’re going to use our rights and keep fighting for all Members’ right https://t.co/3MfpslRnEf”.

Jamie Raskin was born in Washington, D.C., in 1962 and currently resides in Takoma Park. He earned both his undergraduate degree (1983) and law degree (1987) from Harvard University. Before joining Congress in 2017—replacing Chris Van Hollen—he served in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016.
