Representative Jamie Raskin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Maryland’s 8th district, shared a series of tweets on May 16, 2025. His posts reflect both local engagement and broader political commentary.

On May 16, 2025, Raskin celebrated a significant milestone for the Visual Arts Center at Einstein High School. He expressed enthusiasm about joining the school staff and students for the event marking its 50th anniversary. In his words: “My district team was thrilled to join the Einstein High School staff and students for celebration of the 50th anniversary of the wonderful and extraordinary Visual Arts Center! This Center makes the world more beautiful every day. Rock on.”

Later that day, Raskin addressed national issues in another tweet concerning financial priorities under former President Donald Trump’s administration. He criticized what he described as misallocation of resources, stating: “DOGE’s next target should be the White House, not cancer researchers, food safety inspectors and air traffic controllers. Trump is plundering the taxpayers and draining the coffers of the people. That’s monarchy, not democracy.”

In a separate post made shortly thereafter, Raskin quoted lyrics from Bruce Springsteen’s song “Badlands,” perhaps suggesting commentary on societal hierarchies or aspirations: “Poor man wanna be rich. Rich man wanna be king. The king ain’t satisfied ‘til he rules everything.”—Springsteen, Badlands

Jamie Raskin has been serving in Congress since replacing Chris Van Hollen in 2017 after having served in Maryland’s state legislature from 2007 to 2016.
