U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin, who serves Maryland’s 8th district in Congress, used his social media platform on November 6 and 7, 2025, to address concerns about the situation in the West Bank village of Umm Al-Kheir and express support for the American jury trial system.
On November 6, 2025, Raskin posted: “As captured in the Academy Award-winning documentary No Other Land, the West Bank Village of Umm Al-Kheir has endured years of violent attacks by settlers and vigilantes. @RepJerryNadler, @jahimes, @RepSaraJacobs, @RepDanGoldman and I are now demanding PM Netanyahu abandon”. Later that day, he wrote: “Long live the jury trial in America.”
Continuing his advocacy regarding Umm Al-Kheir on November 7, Raskin stated: “Prime Minister Netanyahu, more than 100 House Democrats led by @RepJerryNadler, @jahimes, @RepSaraJacobs, @RepDanGoldman and I are calling on you to abandon plans to demolish homes in the West Bank village of Umm Al-Kheir.”
Jamie Raskin has been a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Chris Van Hollen. He previously served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park, Raskin holds both undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University.
