Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, used his social media platform on April 13, 2026, to address concerns about rising fascism and recent acts of intimidation in the United States.

In a post from April 13, Raskin wrote: “Stephen Miller exists now to turn America into a fascist Gangster State that uses the federal government as a weapon of control and violence against the people. But the people, from Maryland to Minnesota to Miller’s California, are rising up, like the people of Hungary, against https://t.co/52K5eI3HRg”.

Later that day, he marked Yom HaShoah with a statement commemorating Holocaust victims: “On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews and millions of others massacred by the Nazis. May the memories of the perished be a blessing and constant spur to us as the world organizes to fight resurgent fascism, antisemitism and hate.”

Raskin also responded to an incident at Bradley Hills school: “Sickened and appalled by this hateful and terrifying act of intimidation against students, teachers and staff at Bradley Hills. I join all of MoCo as we send support, love and solidarity to the kids, families and educators targeted. They deserve safety at school, not threats https://t.co/cE7ObaIM0K”.

Jamie Raskin has represented Maryland’s 8th District in Congress since succeeding Chris Van Hollen in 2017. Before his congressional service, he served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature between 2007 and 2016. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park at age 60, Raskin is an alumnus of Harvard University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
