Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, has recently addressed a range of national and local issues in a series of social media posts.

On February 18, 2026, Raskin commented on American leadership and popular culture, stating: “America has no kings, but we’ve got one Boss and his name is Bruce Springsteen. Unlike our faux-King, the Boss fights for freedom and democracy for everyone. I cannot wait to hear him sing Streets of Minneapolis loud enough to rattle the walls of what’s left of the White House.”

Turning to local concerns, Raskin highlighted environmental challenges affecting his constituents. On February 20, 2026, he posted: “The Potomac sewage spill has been harrowing and appalling for residents of Montgomery County and our entire region. We want it fixed and my office is in constant contact with DC Water and all relevant agencies to make sure the interceptor is repaired and remediation efforts are”

Later that day, Raskin made another statement regarding national politics: “The Trump Administration has a staff infection.”

Raskin has represented Maryland’s 8th District in Congress since succeeding Chris Van Hollen in 2017. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1962, Raskin resides in Takoma Park. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 1983 and earned his JD from Harvard Law School in 1987.
