Rep. Jamie Raskin, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district, posted a series of updates on his official Twitter account in early February 2026 addressing local weather conditions, a school shooting incident, and congressional access to the unredacted Epstein File.
On February 8, 2026, Raskin warned constituents about severe winter weather: “MoCo is experiencing freezing temperatures and harsh winds this evening and tomorrow. Stay safe everyone!”
The following day, after reports of a shooting at Wootton High School in Rockville, he expressed sympathy for those affected: “Our hearts are with the students, parents and staff of Wootton High School in Rockville after a shooting at the school. We are closely monitoring the situation and sending sympathy and strength to the Wootton community.”
Later that same day, Raskin commented on congressional access to sensitive documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: “The DOJ is giving Members of Congress just four computers in a satellite office to read the unredacted Epstein File of more than 3 million documents. Working 40 hours a week on nothing else but this, it would take more than seven years for the 217 Members who signed the House”
Jamie Raskin has served as Maryland’s 8th District representative since 2017 after succeeding Chris Van Hollen. He previously held office in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 2007 through 2016. Born in Washington D.C. in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park, Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
