Rep. Jamie Raskin, who represents Maryland’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues in a series of posts on September 4 and 5, 2025, including the testimony of Epstein survivors, actions by former President Trump regarding the Education Department, and engagement with his constituents.
On September 4, Raskin commented on recent testimonies from survivors connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s human trafficking ring. He wrote: “Epstein survivors gave a brave accounting of the horrific abuse they endured as children caught up in the billionaires’ human trafficking ring.
Trump’s desperate campaign to bury their testimony and demands as a “Democrat hoax” is pathetically transparent. Release the files.” (posted September 4, 2025).
Later that day, Raskin criticized former President Trump’s handling of the U.S. Department of Education and its impact on civil servants. He stated: “When Trump smashed up the Education Department, he upended the lives and careers of countless civil servants like my constituents, Dr. Carter and Dr. Joseph. These patriots serve America’s kids and America’s future, not the whims of an anti-education president.” (posted September 4, 2025).
On September 5, Raskin highlighted his outreach efforts within his district: “In Maryland, we’re fired up to defend American democracy and freedom.
I just spoke with more than 15,000 constituents in MD-08 on a community telephone town hall. Thank you for joining in and hang tough everyone!” (posted September 5, 2025).
Jamie Raskin has represented Maryland’s 8th District since replacing Chris Van Hollen in Congress in 2017. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C., Raskin is currently based in Takoma Park at age sixty. He holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD), having graduated from both institutions during the early-to-mid-1980s.
