U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin, who serves Maryland’s 8th district in Congress, addressed several ongoing political controversies through a series of posts on his social media account between September 2 and September 3, 2025.

On September 2, Raskin asserted congressional authority over immigration enforcement oversight. He wrote, “The law is clear, whether you like it or not: Members of Congress have the right to conduct oversight of ICE facilities. No law gives Trump the power to target his chosen political enemies, like @RepLaMonica, simply for doing their jobs and their duties.”

Later that evening, Raskin commented on Ms. Pirro’s handling of legal matters related to the January 6 events. He stated, “I’m afraid Ms. Pirro doesn’t understand the law which is amazing given she’s supposed to enforce it. But I’d love to debate her about her office’s support for violent J6 felons & firing of prosecutors who worked J6 cases. All she’s shown so far is she can’t indict a ham sandwich.”

On September 3, Raskin called for transparency regarding documents associated with Jeffrey Epstein. He posted, “A House majority isn’t backing down until we get the full Epstein File, not some watered-down, sanitized and redacted counterfeit doctored by Pam Bondi and Kash Patel. Release the real File and let the American people decide.”

Jamie Raskin has represented Maryland’s 8th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Chris Van Hollen. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C., Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
