During a March 11 examination, Cedar Garden Food Import and Export, Inc. in Romulus was issued three violations by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) relating to Foodborne Biological Hazards, FDA records show.
FDA data details the following citations given to the company:
- ‘You did not maintain your plant in a clean and sanitary condition and in adequate repair.’
- ‘You did not exclude pests from your food plant to protect against contamination of food.’
- ‘You did not store or transport a food under conditions that protect against deterioration.’
The FDA conducts regular inspections at facilities nationwide to assess whether workplaces and their products meet laws and regulations designed to protect public health. These findings are made available to the public.
The FDA’s website states it is a government agency primarily charged with overseeing the safety and quality of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies, and tobacco goods.
