On Saturday, March 7, the Bates Bobcats, with former Walt Whitman High School guard Ava James, earned a 74-70 victory over the Smith Pioneers in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.
The matchup was held at Alumni Gymnasium at 7:15 p.m. and marked the teams’ first meeting in the tournament.
Bates will play its next tournament game on Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m. at John Long Center.
